Prior to the Los Angeles Dodgers’ game with the Colorado Rockies on Saturday night, iconic players from the team’s storied past gathered for the 2015 Old-Timers Game. On-hand and suited up in Dodger blue were players including Pedro Guerrero, Jerry Hairston Jr., Steve Garvey, Todd Zeile, Nomar Garciaparra, Shawn Green, Steve Finley, Rick Monday, Roger Craig, Maury Wills, Tommy Davis, Don Newcombe, Orel Hershiser, Fernando Valenzuela, Chan-Ho Park, Ron Cey, Davey Lopes, and many more.
As you’d expect, the pregame festivities were full of smiles and energy, as ex-players greeted each other, posed for pictures and caught up with one another. Here are some images from the scene.
- As for the 2015 Dodgers, manager Don Mattingly stated that closer Kenley Jansen feels fine after making his season debut on Saturday night, but he wasn’t sure if he’d be called upon to close Saturday night’s game if the opportunity presented itself. However, Mattingly did confirm that Jansen is, as expected, the closer moving forward.
- Brandon Beachy, recovering from Tommy John surgery, threw a simulated game early Saturday afternoon, and by all accounts things went well. Beachy was signed by the Dodgers back in February and is looking to make his way back to the majors after undergoing the surgery in March 2014.
